Retired government agent honored in Cranbrook presentation
Last Friday in the Cranbrook government building a gold watch and chain and 780 in gold were presented to A. C. Nelson, the long serving government agent for East Kootenay. Judge Thompson and local residents praised his fifteen years of service and the railway construction era while a long list of signatories witnessed the tribute.

Pythians Install New Officers at Cranbrook Gala
About forty five members attended the Pythian gathering in Cranbrook as Deputy Grand Chancellor installed the new officers. The event launched plans for six months of activity in Pythianism and a celebration for the Pythian Golden Jubilee on February 19 with participation from Pythians across Canada and Alaska.

Fund Appeal For Injured Riley Fungs Near 1914 St Eugene Hospital
Riley Fungs J Riles lost both legs to amputation at St Eugene Hospital last week. He is recovering in bed for weeks, reliant on charity for artificial limbs. He was found wandering near Canal Flats after five days in the woods. feet frozen. An Irish shoemaker with wife and three Newfoundland children, he could work if limb support were funded. The Herald fund has raised little this week. $200 is needed soon to supply artificial legs so he may leave hospital and be self supporting. Donations may be sent to the Herald office. The Cranbrook Operatic Society holds its annual general meeting at 8 pm Tuesday February 3 1914 at the Y M C A to elect officers and decide the next production.
