Obituary of Miss Mary Jane Turner in Cranbrook
Mary Jane Turner died Tuesday morning after a lingering illness at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Marshall where she had resided for five years. Born in Thornhill Scotland she lived in Gloucester and Vancouver before moving to Cranbrook five years ago. She was a former nurse and member of the Cranbrook Ladies Conservative Study Club. Funeral services were conducted by Rev M S Blackburn from the family home with pallbearers W S MacDonald T South J McDonald A S Ward A A MacKinnon and W C Marshall. burial followed at the local cemetery.

Death of Kitchener hotel man buried at Creston Cemetery
Erwin McGonegal 39 native of Flower Station Ontario died two weeks ago and was proprietor of the McConnell Hotel in Kitchener. He worked in woods in East Kootenay before moving to Creston in 1916 and later became woods foreman for Continental Lumber then took charge of the McConnell Hotel. Funeral December 4 at Creston cemetery with Rev Daly officiating. he is survived by wife and two daughters Vera and Hazel.

BE Adney of Montreal recounts how the spruce bark canoe making art nearly vanished among the Malecite of New Brunswick. After years of searching he found Peter Bear, 76, one of the last custodians, who demonstrated the careful bow and stern crimping needed to craft a model canoe at a Malecite settlement near Saint John.
