Granby to Resume Work at Canadian Mines and Smelter

Grand Forks dispatch reports Granby Consolidated plans to reopen its mines on December 5 and the smelter within a few days, after cost cuts and a price projection of 12 to 16 cents per pound for copper. The move aims to reemploy about 100 workers as operations restart. Local dog Old Fritz, longtime Cranbrook resident, was euthanized after long illness.

Cranbrook to Open The Cranbrook Automobile Garage

P L Harris of New York will convert the former hay warehouse on Armstrong Avenue into a modern auto garage named The Cranbrook Automobile Garage. A 16 passenger car will shuttle between here and Windermere, with runabouts and touring cars for hire and full repair services. Harris, formerly manager of the New York Automobile Garage, will operate as agents for White Steamer Rio Peerless and other automakers.
