The Monon has completed the largest wooden water tank on the road near Crawfordsville. The structure stands 22 feet high with 30 feet in circumference and will hold 100000 gallons when full. A new pipeline goes to the creek and a pump is set at the pump house near the red bridge.
A county wide evangelistic effort is proposed with all church groups invited to join. Ministers from Crawfordsville and rural towns will meet at First Christian church to plan a county evangelism program that stresses cooperation and outreach beyond city limits. Despatch notes the rural focus and pastors will visit nearby towns to aid in meetings. Dr Shoop’s Cough Remedy ad claims safe use for children without opium or harsh substances.

A Mexican telegraph operator Charles Gazeman and a young woman live as husband and wife at the Warren hotel. Mr. Kelley of Defiance, Ohio claims the woman, Gazeman is fined $20 and costs after a preliminary hearing. The woman returns to her husband while Gazeman is jailed. Stomach remedy claims follow.
After six years of effort the Kingman Agricultural Society will sell its fair buildings on October 5. Weather and low attendance plagued events including a postponed racetrack and sparse exhibits. The Commercial Club may steer next year’s efforts toward a stock show or Fourth of July celebration. The Modern Woodmen event drew crowds with a parade, speeches by Hon. Michael Foley, and contests, including log rolling, greased pole, and a balloon ascent, won by Floyed Youngblood, Marty Switzer, and Attica’s drill team.

At the State Association of County Commissioners meeting in Terre Haute Judge Jas E Watson former Republican gubernatorial candidate commended Governor Marshall for respecting the constitution and laws and resisting public extravagance. He also criticized Theodore Roosevelt’s debt policy and conservation spending. The Crawfordsville Review notes Watson’s praise of Marshall’s restraint and fiscal prudence.
