Mrs. Jennie Shoaf wife of Dr F A Shoaf prominent in Veedersburg society was struck by a westbound Big Four freight at Hillsboro while crossing to reach a train. She died instantly. funeral services were held with many relatives and friends in attendance. Survived by husband daughter and two sisters.
G A R John C Freemont Post No 2 held a meeting Tuesday evening and unanimously adopted a resolution of thanks to Napolian B. Cardiff for a fine picture of Napolian Bonapart at the Battle of Waterloo.

Waynetown plans its eleventh annual horse show on June 9 with an active list of officers and several attractions. The event promises excellent displays and good prizes for participants and spectators alike.
A total lunar eclipse will be visible nationwide on May 23 evening. The eclipse begins at 10:46 p.m. Eastern, becomes total at 12:09 a.m. May 24, and ends with the moon fully emerging by 2:22 a.m. The event will be observed by skywatchers across multiple states.
Martha J. Harlow wife of the late Jeremiah Harlow and mother of Nathan G. Harlow died at her Crawfordsville home Tuesday at 7:30 PM from general debility aged about 72. Born and long a Montgomery County resident she leaves five children mentioned with her husband predeceased two years ago. Funeral held Thursday at 2 PM from the Crawfordsville residence with interment in Wesley Cemetery near East of Waynetown. described as a lovely Christian lady loved by all.
Hardy Morgan 24 son of the late William Morgan and a Danville resident was run over and ground to pieces by a Westbound freight near the Woodruff coal docks while riding a speeder with Charles Snyder. Morgan, employed by the railroad, died Thursday evening. burial occurred in Danville after family moved from this city. The railroad bore funeral expenses due to his widowed mother Mollie Morgan’s destitution.

The city school board let contracts last Monday for a new high school at total $19,310.96 with bids for building $16,968.96 heating $2,147 and wiring $195.00. Extras may push total above $20,000. Construction on the current Primary site will begin soon and be ready by September 1 for the fall opening.
James L Allen prominent Fountain County resident died at his Harrison street home at 11 45 Monday after a four day illness He was born May 24 1845 in the city and leaves wife Larissa Campbell four children James L Jr Russell Grace Adkins and C W Dice a large estate valued at about 100 000 He served as Fountain County clerk from 1878 two terms and was trustee of the Indiana State Blind Institute He belonged to Odd Fellows and Masons and is buried at Mt Hope cemetery in Danville with services led by Rev F K Dougherty.
The George W. Kerr & Son undertaking firm thanks the public for generous support and promises continued service. They have conducted several funerals with praised skill and tact, including the burial of J. L. Allen.
At the Presbyterian Church Mr Kirk offers a complete entertainment featuring Shylock Jingle and Dooley sketches with dialects and Dickens and Irving snippets. Changes to characters occur on stage before the audience for a striking, artistic effect. Mr Kirk performs Monday evening the 23rd at 8 oclock.
Miss Ruth Yocum hosted a comet watch party about a mile south of the city on Saturday night. Attendees described the spectacle after a late viewing as they lingered until Sunday morning. Snowball and Bethlehem star decor and light refreshments complemented the gathering. Local and out of town guests joined in the pleasant event.

Across Fountain County remnants of a calm delegate selection emerged as Republicans organized township conventions to choose delegates to the Lebanon Congressional convention. Despite no direct congressional candidate, reports show harmonious contests and broad support, with lists of delegates named from multiple townships including Fulton Shawnee and Davis.
Farmer McMahon has leased lots north of the office from Mrs. Catharine Cardiff for forty years with twenty more at stake to build a two story frame livery feed and sales barn 132 by 64 feet. Flora and Dochterman have the contract. completion targeted by September first. McMahon will run a general livery and connect with lines noted, promising rapid progress and success.
A man found unconscious in a skiff near the Warren county ferry turns out to be Thos R Sullivan of the Lafayette Soldiers' Home. He left the Home on a 90 day furlough Friday, boat upset, he drifted until rescue. He regained some strength and was returned to the Home for a fresh start. Also a five room centrally located residence for sale offered by the office.
