Lightning Strikes Barn North of Newtown But Fire Is Averted

Mrs. Jonathan Coggins died at her Newtown home Saturday evening July 2 of infirmities from old age. She was 7 years old and leaves a husband age 1. Their married life spanned 1 years. She had resided in Newtown seventeen years, formerly from Alt Vernon Ohio. Surviving children include Mrs. Ruma L. Reed and Dr. Charles M. Coggins. grandchildren Mrs. Nyer and Mrs. Herman Briges. Seventy Foot Bridge Over Bear Creek Collapses
The seventy foot bridge near Fountain over Bear Creek collapsed Sunday night in a heavy travel period. Built by Charles Brown it cost about 2500 dollars and was condemned days earlier. The bridge lies 30 feet under in the creek bed and detours of seven to eight miles are used as route men await replacement.

Death of Esteemed Local Citizen with Long Funeral Procession
Obituary notes the death of Joseph Rhodes Jr born Oct 10 1825 in Pennsylvania died Aug 3 1805 aged 7 years 9 months 23 days. He leaves two surviving brothers from six, five sisters and three daughters died. His wife of 75 years joined heaven six years ago. Rhodes had joined Wabash Chapel church and was ready for heaven. Richard Ballah Dies at 22 in Warren County
Richard Ballah died at home in lower Warren county on Saturday morning at age 22. He was the son of Mrs. Margaret Ballah, widow of Amos Ballah, and had suffered from consumption. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Canon at Benson Chapel Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with interment in Mound cemetery.
