John Sample, about 54, a County Farm resident since January, committed suicide by hanging in the granary Monday morning. He climbed an empty barrel, attached a chain to a beam, and kicked away the barrel, causing death by choking. His wife and daughter, residents of Wabash Township, arranged burial.

Kingman community reels after a Tuesday night cutting affray at a cold storage resort. President Mitchell and Nate Furr clashed over a card name. Furr used a knife, wounding Mitchell in the abdomen. Furr fled to Cayuga, was arrested, and returned as Mitchell’s condition remains uncertain.
Fountain Warren Traction Company met Commercial Club representatives and local citizens and agreed to finance and start the road to Lafayette within six months if the township tax passes. otherwise they will withdraw. Lafayette Company plans to abandon its line and Unnsolidated will build through from Crawfordsville.
Township trustees meet next Monday in the county superintendent’s office to elect a truant officer for the term. Five candidates are named: Jerry McMahon of this city Alfred Parker of Mellott Berl Buler of Hillsboro and Elmer Bimmons of Wabash township. The board is described as democratic by a gate majority.
Earl Bilsland and Miss Ruth Ellis united in marriage at R. W. Thorne residence on South Sixth Street Sunday evening April 23 at 7 30. Attendants included Lindsey Ellis Newton Bilsland Iva Black Robert Blythe and Mr and Mrs Thorne. The couple to reside two miles north of town with best wishes from friends.
Alphonse Lemp moved his jewelry store to a room on the north side of the square this week. The space, previously occupied by Evans & Crane barbers, has been put in good repair for business.
The usual popular excursion will depart the Big Four route to Indianapolis Sunday at 8 14 a m with a round trip fare of 1 dollar. Travelers gain about nine hours in Indianapolis to visit old friends and return the same day.

Mr and Mrs Mitchell Conover longtime residents of Wabash township celebrated 37 years of marriage with a family gathering at their home. Relatives and friends enjoyed dinner and gifts including an easy chair for Mr Conover and a rug for Mrs Conover, plus Easter baskets for grandchildren.

The Woman's Club, one of the strongest in this part of the state, was entertained by Mrs. Laura Barrett last Friday afternoon. The gathering enjoyed the usual pleasant time.
The Vredersburg Record office owned by Roy Fullwider was set ablaze early last Saturday and burned to the rear room. presses survived. Two men were seen during the blaze and fled. Fire is believed incendiary. Loss about 75000. the business sustains a serious blow.
J. Loe extends a liberal discount in clothing and dry goods to school graduates who visit for purchases and guidance.

A 1905 letter from Leslie Spence, son of D V Spence, reports arrival in Antwerpen Belgium after an ocean voyage with McCadden's International Circus. He describes trains, language barriers, hotel life, and his desire to return home, promising postcards from Lille and other towns. He signs from Paris with love to all at 338 Rue St Honore.
