Beef bulls to test on River Falls area farm
A new beef bull testing station will open at Duane Paulson’s farm two miles north of River Falls on Highway 35. UW-River Falls will co‑host with Minnesota and Wisconsin producers, using corn silage as the base ration. Bulls arrive in December for a 21 day warmup and about 140 days on test through mid May. Yardage is 60 cents daily for one bull, 50 cents for three or more, plus a gain fee based on current corn price.

Dairy banquet set for Oct 7 at Spring Valley High
The 1982 Pierce County dairy recognition dinner is scheduled for 7 30 p m Oct 7 in the Spring Valley High School gym. Fifty two county dairy farmers will receive trophies for official herd averages of more than 577 pounds butterfat per cow for the year ending June 30 1982. Outstanding 4 H and long dairy project members along with persons who have made contributions to the dairy industry will be recognized.

Corn field day set Tuesday near Spring Valley
Pierce County farmers are invited to a corn field day on the Ivan and Tony Shafer farm six miles south of Spring Valley at 1 p.m. October 5. Ten seed firms bring 40 corn varieties with 80 90 95 and 100 day maturities. County Agent Bernie Drewiske and District One Technical Institute instructor Roger Nichols will attend.
