Wisconsin Farmers Eligible for 1983 Feed Grain Advance Payments
Farmers in west central Wisconsin can sign up for the 1983 Feed Grain program this Friday at their county ASCS office. Signups through March 31 allow half of the 1983 diversion payment to be paid at signup with the remainder later. another option adds half of next year’s deficiency payment for a 20 percent 1983 corn cut.

Wisconsin leads state in 1982 growing degree days
West central Wisconsin reports 2 575 GDD the highest in the state for the 1982 crop season while southwestern Wisconsin ranks second at 2 534 GDD. Statewide average since May 15 is 1 916 GDD with corn progress lagging behind last year and many fields still needing warmer weather to finish ripening.
