Soviets face lean grain harvest amid high imports
The USDA projects a poor Soviet grain crop in 1981-82 despite record imports of wheat and corn. Estimated output may limit livestock growth as feed supplies stay only slightly above last year. The USSR also expanded its wheat purchases by 100000 metric tons under a six year grain accord, raising total U.S. grain sales to 5.2 million tons for 81-82.
