Wisconsin agents honored by USDA at 67th meeting

Wisconsin extension agents receive national awards from the USDA at the 67th annual national Association of County Agricultural Agents meeting in Billings Montana. Bernie Drewiske Pierce County and George Oncken Waukesha County receive Distinguished Service Awards. Tom Koszarek Taylor County gets the Achievement Award. Francis Gilson Langlade County also honored. Drewiske, Pierce County agent for 25 years since 1957, previously earned a Distinguished Service Award last May.

Farm Energy Seminar Offered to Cut Farm Costs

A Farm Energy Seminar will run 10 a.m. to 3 30 p.m. on Sept 25 at Ladysmith High School to outline ways to reduce fuel and energy expenses for machinery fertilizer electricity and home heat. Topics include methane fuel wind solar energy conservation tillage and innovations with presenters from local and out of state. Free round trip bus service is offered for residents of five counties with reservations by Sept 20.
