Trempealeau County Farm Bureau Cooperative will hold its annual meeting at St. Peter and Paul School on September 28 with a banquet at 7 30 p m and the business session at 8 30 p m Don Haldeman of Norwalk will speak Directors will be elected and several resolutions on dairy education soil conservation tax policy and alcohol sale age are on the agenda Reservations are due by September 23 at a cost of 5 per person.

Chippewa County Board Rejects Farmland Preservation Plan
The Chippewa County Board voted 17 to 13 against adopting a county farmland preservation plan. If not approved, about 25 farmers face repayment of two years of tax credits from the state program. Jim Johnson urged compromise, noting 16,000 farms in 65 of 72 counties participate and liens may appear on taxes starting Oct. 1.

AMPI to close Strum milk transfer station operations
AMPI will stop accepting fluid milk at the Strum station around Oct 1 while continuing to sell milking supplies. Milk from about 50 Mid-State region members will be trucked directly to a cheese plant at Elk Creek and other AMPI plants in Abbotsford and Marshfield. The Strum site will remain a supply pickup point with limited hours, and the change aims to cut the load unloading cycle as milk production exceeds bottle needs.
