Farmers Union to run countywide recruitment drive
Fifteen Eau Claire County Farmers Union members will canvass county farms September 14 through 18 as part of Wisconsin’s largest membership recruitment effort. Thirty seven county organizations aim to add over 1600 members, led by co chairmen Judy Johnson and Shirley Flynn with Wisconsin Farmers Union president Leland Mulder calling it a fitting launch to the 51st year. Mulder recalls 1930s programs aiding family farming and notes recent support for anti corporate farming measures and dairy parity. Dues will rise from 10 to 20 dollars on January 1, 1982.
