State agriculture board delays pesticide law revisions

The state agriculture board voted to delay implementing Chapter 29 pending a lawsuit seeking a statewide environmental impact statement on the pesticide regulation revisions. Thomas Dawson, allied with Citizens for a Better Environment, argued the delay was a tactic. The rules would require local notice before aerial spraying, with 18 public hearings cited as an environmental review.
