Prices rise for Wisconsin farm products in April
Wisconsin farmers saw an April 1.5 percent rise in prices received for all farm products, with the Wisconsin Index at 628 percent of the 1910-14 base, nine points above March and 57 points higher than a year ago. Prices paid by farmers rose 1.2 percent to 736 percent of the base, signaling higher costs even as incomes improve. Calves averaged 52.40 a hundred, milk cow replacements at 680 a head, slaughter cows 35.60 and beef cattle 38.50 a hundred, while hog prices fell to 44.40. Soybeans up 0.50, corn up 0.19, wheat and oats higher, alfalfa hay down two-tenths from March.
