Area 4-H clubs win safety contest awards
Several area 4-H clubs earned recognition in the state 4-H safety contest sponsored by The Milwaukee Journal. First place went to the Big Hollow Bears 4-H Club of Sauk County, with multiple runners-up including Rice Lake Rockets and Poplar Grove. The winning club’s emphasis on fire and accident prevention spurred their safety program.

Three of seven statewide Farm Bureau meetings to explain the Farmland Preservation and Tax Credit Program will be held in west central Wisconsin. June 6 at the Holiday Inn in Wausau, June 7 at First Federal Bank in Menomonie, and June 8 at Bank of Holmen in Holmen. Sessions start at 8:30 p.m. Attending all sessions are Roger Cliff, Paul Sacia, Richard Barrows, and Jim Johnson. Additional sessions are set for Green Bay, Dodgeville, Fond du Lac and Burlington.
