New state FmHA director ready to start work
Keith Kreul, 53, will begin as Wisconsin FmHA director in Stevens Point Monday. He returns from Washington era service, manages a 948 acre Grant County beef and hog farm, and plans to spend five days weekly in Stevens Point while staying connected to the farm. Budget cuts may affect programs though basic farm loan support is expected to continue. Del Whelan notes few state cuts, but many Rural Development Act programs may end. Kreul’s farming background and prior FmHA engagement are seen as assets for the role.
