Dairy goat show planned for June 13 at Eau Claire
The Chippewa Valley Dairy Goat Association schedules its annual buck show junior doe show and senior doe show for June 13 at the Eau Claire County junior fair ground. Sanctioned by the American Dairy Goat Association the event covers Alpine Nubian and other purebreds plus recorded grades. Entry is 2 dollars per animal by June 1 to Phyllis Freeberg. day of show 3 dollars per animal.

Wisconsin extension agents win environmental awards in Stevens Point
Keith Sommerfeld of Dunn County and three other Wisconsin extension agents were honored by the National Association of County Agricultural Agents and the Wisconsin County Agents Association with recognition at their Stevens Point meeting. Sommerfeld won first in the result demonstration category for a conservation tillage project with corn yield data and post season evaluation. Other winners include James Schroeder in tours, Thomas O’Connell in meetings, and Leonard Anderson in leader development. All four entries advance to regional and national judging.

USDA APHIS invites public input on updated gypsy moth rules aimed at slowing artificial spread. The changes reflect new distribution patterns after the caterpillar defoliated 5.1 million acres in 1980. High risk areas cover parts of New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Michigan and Isabella County. Comments due by June 8.
