UW Extension specialist Judy Hooper wrote Understanding You for 9 to 13 year olds addressing body changes, normalcy doubts, sexual relationships, peer pressure, and parent conflicts. The booklet, in frank teen language, is available from county extension offices.
Lanse Carlson a Taylor County 4-H and youth agent was elected to the Wisconsin Association of Extension 4-H and Youth Agents board for a two year term representing the Western District. He succeeds Levert Olson and will liaison to the awards and recognition committee while promoting 4-H programs across 11 western counties. The 1981 annual meeting, held April 29 to May 1 in Stevens Point, carried the theme Growth Personal and Professional.

The Association for Retarded Citizens will sponsor an eight hour 100 kilometer skate-a-thon on May 16 at London Hill Skateland in Eau Claire. from noon to 8 p.m. registration starts 11:30 a.m. Skaters seek pledges per kilometer. Top fundraiser wins a water bed. Prizes run through 10th place with televisions and skating gear. Door prizes hourly. pledge forms available at Skateland or local schools.
