West CAP in Glenwood City receives 85542 to run Adult Work Experience and Vocational Exploration programs serving 50 in Barron Polk St. Croix and Pierce counties plus 21 more in exploration. AWE pays 0 hours weekly in June to August with 32 hours on site and eight hours of group training weekly. VEP places seven or eight in private firms monthly with 120 hours observation and 40 hours training. Beef queen contest set for Lancaster farm July 11
The 1981 beef queen contest will be held July 11 at the Jim Brandemuehl farm in Lancaster Grant County. Contestants aged 18 to 24 must be unmarried with beef knowledge and public appearance ability and a rural background. The queen assists the Wisconsin Cattlemen and Cowbelles in beef promotion and must attend State Fair activities.
