Wisconsin seeks more surplus cheese for needy families
Wisconsin agriculture leaders urged the federal government to send additional CCC surplus cheese. Will Dahl reported about 1,041,000 pounds distributed last week across 591 sites in 72 counties, with 200,000 households reached. Distribution aimed to relieve the CCC surplus while preserving trade channels, and volunteers aided face-to-face access. The board also approved higher inspection fees for seeds, potatoes, and processing plant health certificates to offset costs, and addressed farmland preservation tax credits and county plan requirements.
