New law aids farmers and self employed in Social Security rules
Public Law 96-473 signed Oct 19 1980 lets some self employment income earned before entitlement to Social Security be deducted from earnings for the annual earnings test after entitlement. Farmers selling carryover crops after retirement and self employed agents may also benefit if income stems from pre entitlement work.
