Feeder pig co op elects district director in Wisconsin
Robert Reikemann of Eau Claire was elected District 5 director of the Wisconsin Feeder Pig Co op at the annual meeting in Wausau. The district covers Trempealeau through Chippewa counties. General manager Norbert Dahlke urged members to secure more pigs to meet demand and stressed quality for market growth. The Q F P program will expand. the co op may be renamed due to growing Minnesota and North Dakota membership.

St Croix County Forms Young Farmers Group
A newly organized St. Croix Young Farmers group invites all young farmers to join without age limits. Leader Greg Zwald of Hammond says the goal is to unite farmers with differing views to discuss similarities and differences. The next meeting is March 14 at 8:30 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Service Center in Hammond with speakers from the American Agriculture Movement. Nearby county farmers are welcome.

UW River Falls to Host Wisconsin Agriculture Technology Contest
More than 1,200 Wisconsin high school students are expected to participate in the Agriculture Technology Contest at UW River Falls on March 18. Contest sections run 8:30, 10, and 11:30 a.m. with an awards program at 2 p.m. in Karges Center Gymnasium.

Dairy Promotion Group to Meet Thursday in St Croix County
The St. Croix County Dairy Promotion Committee will meet at the agricultural center at 1 p.m. Thursday to continue this year’s program. Chairman Bob Draxler of Glenwood City says plans include dairy place mats in area restaurants, expanded supermarket cheese promotions, dairy promo days in more villages and cities, use of athletic event programs in county high schools, and June Dairy Month milk promotion. The committee will seek funds from county dairy farmers. Members include Jim Huppert, Dave Black, Todd Bjerstedt, Dale Reba, Bob Palewicz, and Dra xler of Glenwood City.
