Waukesha County Wins Dairy Promotion Award in State Contest
Waukesha County's 20 member dairy promotion committee took first place in the Wisconsin Holstein Association dairy promotion contest at the association's 94th annual convention. Fourteen counties competed. Grant County was second. Sheboygan County won best new idea with a dairy dinner for high school athletic directors. A Dairy Council of Wisconsin representative discussed nutrition for young athletes and dairy's role. Waukesha sponsored a Dairy Day at Brookfield Square with urban guests, a farm breakfast, open barns drawing 300 to 500 visitors, and a Daily Night with the Milwaukee Admirals.

The Wisconsin Holstein Association honored top juniors Jamie Greenbeck 19 Lorie Rock and Brad Burke 118 at a recent ceremony in Amery. Greenbeck, UW Madison student and editor, owns 11 registered Holsteins and held multiple club offices. Burke, Amery High School senior, 4-H leader and FFA member, won a state dairy proficiency award and aspires to dairy farming with a registered herd. Also honored were Julie Krull for a $500 scholarship, Eugene Nelson for the Don Gillett Distinguished Service Award, Richard and Ruth Towns for Distinguished Holstein Breeder Award, and Tom and Linda Pearson for Younger Breeder Award with Pearmont Herd noted for record milk production and the first $1 million cow dispersal.
