Farmer Uses Giant Plastic Bag for Silage Storage
Don Mahr in eastern Chippewa County stores corn silage in an 80 foot long plastic bag as a temporary feed storage solution for nearly 100 yearling and bred Holstein heifers. The 14,000 dollar bagging system, including an 80 foot bag and blower, saved costs versus building a silo and may be reused if another bumper crop year arrives.
