River Country RC&D seeks funds for Pierce County forester
The River Country RC&D meeting last week backed a Pierce County resolution to provide 10 000 dollars for a full time forester in Pierce County. DNR forester duties are spread across Pierce and Pepin counties causing delays in timber stand improvement and tax law applications. Welded by a new sawmill, concerns arise about over cutting on private woodlots. Wetlands inventory plans were paused until Eau Claire County completes its study.
