Outlook for mid June to mid July pasture and range feed
The June 1 48 state pasture and range feed condition stood at 80 percent, one point below last year and three points under the 1970 79 average for the date. Conditions were worse than a year earlier in 29 states, better in 17 and equal in 2. Compared with last month, 27 states improved, 5 stayed the same, 16 declined. Areas from Minnesota to Nebraska and eastern Montana show very poor to fair pasture. Southeastern and Southwestern regions also poor to fair. Dry conditions persisted easing only with late May showers, though moisture remains insufficient for full recovery. Elsewhere, moisture and warmth boosted growth, yielding good to excellent pasture.
