Wisconsin Dairies Introduces Quality Payment Plan
Wisconsin Dairies Co op based in Baraboo has launched a quality payment plan paying 4 and 8 cents per hundred for milk meeting standards. Approved by the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, payments begin with July milk checks. The plan, replacing WMT, uses two monthly tests on somatic cell count and other quality factors to determine bonuses, with premiums tied to low somatic cell counts and favorable protein and plate counts.
