More than 13 000 exhibitors expected with record premiums of 404 000 dollars for the Minnesota State Fair to be held August 26 through September 6 in St Paul. About 36 000 animals and projects will enter in 19 departments including open class livestock arts crafts and creative activities with multiple deadline dates in July and August.
Wisconsin dairy farmers will be honored during Dairy Day at Milwaukee County Stadium as the Brewers host the Seattle Mariners in a 7:30 p.m. game. ADA of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Holstein Association sponsor activities for about 40,000 fans with milking contests cheese sampling and a petting zoo. Tickets cost 5 for lower seats and 3.5 for upper seats with a 1 handling charge per order.
Premium books and entry blanks for Wisconsin State Fair 1982 are available. Open and junior fair classes and premiums by department are listed. livestock and poultry entries close July 15 for most, July 25 for open rabbits and dairy. Free books by writing Entry Department, Wisconsin State Fair Park, West Allis WI 53214. Prior exhibitors from 1980 or 1981 will receive the book automatically.
The University of Minnesota Agricultural Extension Service and the Minnesota State Cattleman's Association sponsor a four day Nebraska ranch and feedlot tour August 10 to 13. Stops include Ainsworth area ranches, feedlots near Columbus Cozad Lexington and West Point, and the Iowa Beef Producers plant in Sioux City. Attendees Ray Arthaud and Paul Hasbargan will participate. Limited to 43 people, fee 198 dollars includes transport lodging meals and activities.
