AerWay aeration aids Wisconsin alfalfa stands

Wisconsin farmers experiment with AerWay soil aerators to boost alfalfa root growth and longevity. Midwestern Bio-Ag demonstrates the tool in southwestern Wisconsin and shares grower experiences from Warren and Peggy Porter of Lone Rock. The device, designed for pasture renovation, claims to replace multiple implements and is cited as improving moisture retention and weed disruption in fields.

AerWay aids alfalfa growth through soil loosening and root expansion

Mr. Zimmer explains that using the AerWay with alfalfa fertilizer loosens soil to boost lateral root growth and deeper, stronger root systems. Reducing surface fertility helps alfalfa compete while the device relieves compaction, improving drought resilience via capillary action. Demonstrations on a Barneveld farm showed a 7-foot implement, with models up to 23 feet and wheels advised for widths over 11 feet.
