Dairy Daze Celebrated In Glenwood City
Dairy Daze brought several hundred residents to the main street for the first annual event. Activities included prize drawings free milk cheese and ice cream samples a milking contest and a street dance organized by the St. Croix County Dairy Promotion Board and the Glen Hills Community Club. Dean Smith aged 12 participated in an ice cream eating contest representing Sunnyside Shamrocks 4-H Club, noting he might have won if not for eating supper prior.

Pierce dairy day draws about 600 at Pierce County farm

USDA drops ice cream grading plan in face of public input
The USDA scrapped its proposed ice cream grading system after public feedback. Assistant Secretary Carol Tucker Foreman said many comments favored grades but feared they would reveal ingredients. FDA labeling rules set to start July 1, 1979 will provide ingredient information.
