Erosion-control tour to feature terraces and tile outlets
The Soil Conservation Service in Pierce County sponsors a Friday tour of erosion-control practices. At 10 30 a m observers will view about one mile of broad base terraces on the James Wahrenbrock farm near Ellsworth. At 1 30 p m a system of hump type parallel, tile outlet terraces on the Paul Bamford farm near Maiden Rock offers nearly three miles of terraces, some built in 1979. Meet at Wahrenbrock for morning tour and at the Maiden Rock bank corner for afternoon tour.

The Barron County Farmers Union will hold its June Dairy Month convention on June 6 at 8 15 p m in Room 110 at the Barron County Courthouse. Leland Mulder of Chippewa Falls will discuss the dairy situation and outlook for dairy farmers. Delegates will be sent and dairy foods and a dairy lunch will be served with pie and ice cream.

Tractor pull to aid Polk County Fair fund
A tractor pull for farm tractors, modified tractors and antique tractors is set for June 27 at 1 PM at the Polk County fair grounds. Proceeds support the fair society building fund for a new livestock barn and grandstand. Five farm tractor weight classes plus two modified and one antique 5,000-pound stock tractor class prior to 1940. Weigh-in 10 AM to 12:30 PM. Dave Berglund of Amery seeks sponsors for trophies and prizes.
