Weather radios warn farmers of storms nationwide
Radios provide storm warnings and tailored farming data via the National Weather Service network. Milwaukee and La Crosse transmitters cover west central Wisconsin, with alerts sounding for multiple counties. By 1979, about 340 transmitters will blanket the nation, prioritizing farmers and remote areas.
