A USDA official announced increases in original online grain inspection and weighing fees effective January 4. New rates include 13 dollars for contract on-line inspections, 16 dollars for non-contract on-line inspections, 16.60 dollars for contract and 20 dollars for non-contract off-hours. Other inspections rise to 7.80 per truck, 12 per boxcar, 16.25 per hopper, and 3 per 1 000 bushels for barges with standby fees removed after 30 minutes. Leland E. Bartelt stated the changes align fees with service costs and maintain a operating reserve under the Grain Standards Act. Wisconsin dairy herds show a jump of more than $12,000 in value per herd as milk production rises. The state dairy herd is now valued at about $2.27 billion with larger herds and higher prices lifting per head values. Wisconsin produced 22.6 billion pounds of milk in 1980, about 18 percent of U S production, and accounted for 10 percent of world cheese output.
