Timber demand to show modest growth in 1981 says forest service
The 1981 Agricultural Outlook Conference notes a somewhat slow recovery for timber products with gradual gains in demand though high interest rates may constrain construction. U.S. roundwood output is projected around 11.6 billion cubic feet in 1980, about 10 percent below 1979, while total timber imports are seen at 3.6 billion cubic feet, down 2 percent from 1979. Exports could rise about 3 percent.
