Cheesemakers seek probe of cheese imports
The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association has asked Secretary John Block to seek a Section 22 investigation into cheese imports and their effect on the dairy support program. They cite 238 million pounds of imported cheese under quota, the government purchases of surplus products, and potential tariff and import reductions if interference is found.

County to publish names of delinquent property taxpayers in Eau Claire
Eau Claire County may publish in newspapers the names of delinquent property taxpayers after learning more than 1.5 million dollars in unpaid taxes are on the books. County officials note investors earn high returns while penalties remain 12 percent, with a proposed state bill to raise to 18 percent. County Administrator Ron Wampler says delays hurt tax revenues and that a Leader Telegram notice spurred some payments. Treasurer Larry Lokken says a mailing list will be prepared in two to four weeks and notices will warn of publication within 30 days if not paid.

Dairy herd operators seminar set for Eau Claire dates

The Wisconsin Apple and Horticulture Council and Minnesota Apple Growers Association schedule their joint annual convention January 6 to 8 at the Holiday Inn in La Crosse.
