Income tax checkoff will be big boost to birds wildlife
The piece argues for Wisconsin endangered resources fund tax checkoff citing birds and other species. It notes state and federal funding cuts since 1975, success stories like the whooping crane and peregrine falcon, and warns of habitat losses such as the Bewick's wren and Bell's vireo. It highlights private groups, urges broader public support, and links conservation to a future resilient against nuclear threat. It includes reader notes from Montello about Christmas bird counts and a Medford pastor and ornithologist profile.
