Christmas memories and the enduring book legacy

Dr. Randolph Haugan built a half century of Christmas books and art, collecting manuscripts from both known figures and unknown contributors. The project peaked during World War II with about 155,000 copies sold, then maintained strong annual sales. Notable readers included Franklin Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, and Winston Churchill. The feature “Christmastime in the Village” with Lee Mero highlighted the nostalgia of early 1900s Pierce County life.
