Silo Donations Boost UW River Falls Experimental Farm

Two area firms Brave Harvestere Menomonie and A O Smith Co Arlington Heights Ill donated a 20 by 42 foot Harvestore silo valued at 32000 to the UW River Falls Foundation for the farm. It will store high moisture corn and aid demonstrations research and teaching. Rochester Silo Co also donated half the cost of a Corn Star oxygen limiting unit with UW paying the other half. UW officials noted no endorsement of Harvestore products and cited multiple silo types on campus.

Aldicarb emergency rule to limit pesticide use in Wisconsin

The Wisconsin State Board of Agriculture will consider an emergency rule restricting aldicarb use after contamination found in several wells near potato fields. The rule would limit applications to once every two years per field, ban it in high risk areas, and take effect March 1, 1982 for 120 days. It may be followed by a permit system and label changes.
