Scheps Looks to Expand Ken’s Milk Record Quest in County
Scheps notes Ken Scheps, now 40 Holsteins plus 10 from his father’s pens, works jointly on the nearby operation. Ken, farming solo since spring 1977, has boosted his herd to 19,000 pounds and some cows now produce double their former output. Scheps predicts Ken will be county’s top milk producer within a year. He plans no expansion for himself, prioritizes time off, golfing Wednesdays, and vacations, and will keep using a bull and grade cattle to reduce work. A neighboring rival aims to topple Scheps’ top production.
