Block May Quit As Secretary Of Agriculture
Report says Agriculture Secretary John R. Block may leave his 86 200 annual post for private work with a trade group. Economist Schnittker tells Washington Journalism Center Block is effectively gone and will depart early next year, though Block and aides deny the rumor. Ochs notes no departure plan as Block focuses on the 1985 farm bill and its implementation. A USDA monthly calendar shows engagements through January and into February and spring.
