Grain and oilseed futures softened on weak export buying and large stocks. Minneapolis March spring wheat fell to 2.55, Chicago March corn down to 1.67, soybeans around 4.99, oats rose to 1.59, with spot Minneapolis corn and soybeans traded lower and national wheat and feed grains easing overall.
Fed cattle prices fell again last week across Midwest terminals with $1 to $3 declines and dressed beef down $1 to $2. Hog prices slipped modestly with sow receipts strong. South St. Paul sows accounted for about 19 percent of hog marketings. Feeder prices ranged from 58 to 61 cents for fed steers, Holstein and beef-type heifers in mid 50s to low 60s, dressed beef at 97 to 98 1/2 cents, dull cows 25 to 40, slaughter bulls 34 to 47 and veal calves 25 to 90 cents. Slaughter hogs mostly steady 50 cents higher at South St. Paul to pennies lower elsewhere, 53 to 55 cents.
