AMPI seeks Supreme Court review of milk assessments
Associated Milk Producers Inc plans to appeal to the U S Supreme Court over dairy assessments claiming more than 70 million dollars were improperly collected from AMPI members. AMPI President Irv Elkin noted costs to pursue the case and praised bipartisan Dairy Compromise efforts while district members discussed delays and coalition support. District 42, covering Polk Burnett and Washburn counties, re elected Elkin and others as district directors and named delegates to the national AMPI meeting.

Dahl to take over as Milk Marketing Board head
Dr Dahl selected as general manager of Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board with start Jan 1. Board plans to prioritize advertising and promotion, including cross state campaigns, while reserving funds for future research. About 83 percent of Wisconsin milk leaves the state. Dahl says programs must be first class, dynamic and aggressive to educate consumers in other states. The appointment affects about 40 000 dairy farming families and thousands of workers. Board may hire one or two assistants.
