Somatic cell counts key to dairy herd mastitis control
UW extension specialist Dr Allan Bringe outlined how somatic cell count SCC levels signal mastitis presence and herd health. At meetings in Alma Durand Oakdale and Wonewoc he stressed typical herd SCC around 50 000 and warns that rises above 200 000 on any cow trigger infection tracing and management actions.
