Outstanding Young Farmer named for Wisconsin Farm Bureau

A 29 year old Iowa County dairy farmer Dennis Mueller and his wife Rosemary were chosen Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation Outstanding Young Farmer at a banquet in Eau Claire marking the 59th annual meeting. They farm 280 acres near Montfort with a 40 cow Holstein herd and plan to expand to 300 acres and 80 cows. They credited family help and UW Platteville training for their growth and Dennis serves on county and state Farm Bureau posts while Rosemary works at UW Platteville.

Rice Lake Creamery Sold to Consolidated Badger Coop

Consolidated Badger Cooperative of Shawano has purchased the Rice Lake Creamery Co. known as Gerland's, ending 75 years of family ownership. The Rice Lake plant will operate as the Rice Lake Creamery Division of Consolidated Badger, with future plans to analyze operations yet to be determined. The co-op serves about 2,300 patrons across 25 Wisconsin counties and processes over one million pounds of milk daily across its plants.
