Baraboo 4-Hers catch wave of microwave project
Sauk County 4-H foods group joins a new microwave education program from Michigan State University materials led by Kris Blacklock. The unit teaches 9 to 12 year olds six lessons on microwave basics nutrition and safe uses with menus and dinner planning culminating in a full meal. Leaders will train using donated microwaves as 50 youths enroll and new members may join the project.

Dane County to host 1987 Alice in Dairyland finals
Dane County was approved to host the 1987 Alice in Dairyland finals in Madison likely the third weekend of June. Liz Henry the 1986 87 Alice in Dairyland hails from Dane County and her husband runs Henry Seed Co. in the county. The finals move to June aligns with June Dairy Month celebrations and marks the program as a Dane County event for the first time. Committee chair Myrna Sue Jones of Marshall said Madison offers ample space and hotel capacity and stressed cooperation from local organizations, dairy groups and agribusiness firms. The bid benefited from help from the Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau. The headquarters site dates and steering committee will be set at the Dec 5 meeting.

Villa Louis Prepares 1890s Christmas Display
Villa Louis, the 19th century Victorian mansion, will be decorated in 1890s style for the holiday season. It will host Dec 6–7 tours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a 7 p.m. tree lighting and Prairie du Chien High School carolers. Candlelight tours run 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and horse-drawn sleigh rides will be offered on the grounds. Children should bring homemade ornaments to decorate a large tree in front of the mansion.
