Wisconsin farmers weigh power alcohol plant plan
A Wisconsin cooperative group plans a 50 million dollar plant using 6.5 million bushels of corn and 95.8 million gallons of whey to produce 20 million gallons of alcohol annually. The venture, Power Alcohol Co-op, aims to feed 70,000 cattle with distiller's dried grains and would explore using whey and corn together with yeast. Feasibility study by Pedco International will assess sites in south central Wisconsin and help secure federal loans as the project targets the 1981 corn crop.
