Veterinarians seek liens on farmers property in bill hearing
A Wisconsin Assembly Agriculture Committee hearing examined a bill allowing veterinarians to place liens on farmers property. The measure, co authored by Sen Marvin Roshel and Rep Joseph Wineke, faces constitutional questions and likely changes. Rep Wil Turba noted vets may gain creditor status but not initiate foreclosures, with pushback from bankers and concerns about higher costs.

Two Deaths From One 1800-Pound Bull in Nine Hours
A single 1800 pound bull killed two Kenosha County men within nine hours on a farm near Highway N in the Town of Brighton. Farmhand William Guffey, 58, died after being attacked while feeding the animal on Tuesday evening. Owner Raymond Fox died next morning after being trapped when attempting to load the bull for sale. The bull was shot by a packing plant employee after authorities ordered it destroyed. Fox had described the bull as usually gentle, and Guffey had used a pitchfork to control it previously. The second victim, Fox, died from massive head injuries. The farm witnesses reported the bull dragged victims about 30 feet before ceasing attack. The animal’s death followed clashes with workers trying to pen it.
