Sheep farmers vote on higher checkoff in 1977 referendum
West central Wisconsin and nationwide sheep producers can vote until Sept. 1 on a proposal allowing the USDA to deduct more from wool and lamb sales for advertising and farmer information. If 66 percent approve, deductions would rise from 2 percent to 2 cents per pound on wool and 7 to 12 cents per hundred on lambs, with ballots available at local ASCS offices.
