Proposal to lift mound system waste disposal quota in Wisconsin
Madison Rural Wisconsin landowners seek easier access to mound systems as an alternative to septic tanks. Mound systems have operated on trial for at least five years with over 1,000 in use, yet landowners still struggle to gain approvals. Current law limits suitability, soils, or topography hinder conventional septic installation and stall building plans. The trial program caps mound systems at 3 percent of private systems installed previously.
